Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how data is handled in relation to the ShopiScout Chrome extension, a tool for Shopify e-commerce market research, and in relation to the license you purchase for it. It covers both the $99 annual subscription and the $249 lifetime license.

ShopiScout is built on a local-first architecture. Everything the extension reads and builds stays on your own device:

• Product pages are read directly by your browser, only after you actively trigger the load function.
• Parsing, preview and CSV generation all run inside your browser, on your machine.
• Exported CSV files and image bundles are downloaded straight to your local computer or to your own cloud storage.
• The developer's servers never receive, store, mirror or inspect the product data you process.

Our backend exists for one purpose only: to check whether a license key is valid and, when a refund or chargeback occurs, to mark that license as no longer usable.

The only network call the extension makes is an anonymous license check.

• What is sent: the license key, and nothing else. It is an opaque, non-transferable string used solely to confirm that your copy is authorized.
• What is never sent: your browsing history, the product data you load or export, and any personal information.
• There is no telemetry, no analytics and no advertising call of any kind.

We deliberately keep the data set as small as possible. We only handle:

• License data. Your license key, its plan (annual or lifetime), its validity status and its expiry date. This is what the extension sends to our activation endpoint to verify authorization.
• Local settings. Interface preferences such as your load range, custom CSS selector and license status are stored on your device through chrome.storage.local. They never leave your device.
• Purchase records. When you buy a license, our payment provider Waffo processes the payment and returns the order reference, the buyer email you supplied at checkout and the payment status, so we can issue and re-issue your license key and send the welcome email.

We do not collect the product data you scan. Nothing that the extension extracts from a page is uploaded to us. Specifically, we never receive or store:

• Product titles, prices, variants, SKUs, descriptions, product links or image URLs you loaded or exported;
• CSV files or image bundles generated by the extension;
• Your browser history, the list of shops you visit, your IP address, or any sensitive personal identification information;
• Analytics, behavioural tracking, advertising identifiers or similar telemetry — the extension embeds no tracking, analytics or advertising code;
• Your payment card details: card data is collected and processed entirely by the payment provider and never reaches our servers.

The extension only reads publicly visible information on the page you are viewing, and only when you ask it to.

License data is used solely to verify that your copy of the extension is authorized, to keep the activation service working reliably, and to revoke a license when a refund or chargeback is completed. We never use your data for marketing or promotional purposes, and we never profile you.

Your license key is used only for authorization verification.

• It is sent to our activation endpoint when you activate the extension or when the extension refreshes its status;
• It is stored alongside the plan and validity status so the extension can be told whether the key is active, expired or refunded;
• It is not a tracking identifier, it is never attached to advertising or analytics, and it is never shown publicly or written into server logs;
• It is non-transferable: sharing, reselling or publishing a key may lead to its revocation.

We never sell your data, and we never rent or share it for advertising. Data is shared only with the service providers required to run the purchase and the license check:

• Waffo — the payment provider that processes your purchase, confirms the payment status and handles refunds;
• Hosting and database infrastructure — the platform that runs our activation endpoint and stores license records;
• Email delivery — used only to send your license key and product emails to the address you gave at checkout.

We may also disclose data when we are legally required to do so. See the Refund Policy for how a refund affects your license.

License records are kept while the license is active and afterwards for as long as needed to honour refunds, prevent abuse and meet accounting obligations. Because we hold no product data, there is no scanned data set for us to retain or delete.

• Local settings can be cleared at any time from the Chrome extension management page; uninstalling the extension removes them completely.
• To request deletion of the activation record tied to your license key, email us from the address you used at checkout.

You have the right to ask us what data related to you we store, to request a correction, and to request its deletion. You may contact us at any time to exercise these rights.

We take reasonable measures to protect the license-related data we store, including encrypted transport, restricted access to the activation backend and avoidance of sensitive values in logs. However, no method of transmission over the internet can guarantee 100% absolute security.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the extension after any changes means you accept the updated version.
